In a little over a week a group of Opponauts and iRacers will take part in the 24 Hours of Daytona. The Audi R8 was the car of choice by both the drivers and the entire OppositeLock community. Well it is finally here. I want to give credit to all of the Oppos who created the various logos that I borrowed to use on the car.
I tested the car for the first time last night and it is quite fun; however, it will not be an easy race. The car seems quite balanced, but if you are too exuberant you will wind up backwards. I hope to have some test sessions for everyone this weekend so we can build a setup.
Without further ado, your Team OppositeLock Driver Lineup:
- bwp240
- Diesel Panda (needs to get his license high enough)
- SidewaysOnDirt
- Sam Stoner (if he gets his license high enough...)
If you are still interested in driving for our team, please !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I would like at least 2-3 more drivers. I will be posting a recruiting message on iRacing late tonight, so get your seat before I open it to the masses.
Please enjoy some more photos of the beautiful Team Oppo Audi R8.
There is still a bit of white space; if you have any suggestions of logos to add feel free to leave them in the comments below (must be sfw).

Will you be part of the crew?
Be sure to tune in this weekend as some Team Oppo members will be running in the iRacing Roar Before the 24.

Looks good! I’m actually finding the car to be pretty neutral.

Yeah, I have not done any testing outside of the baseline setup, but it is far tamer than the RUF. Of course that could be because of the ABS and TC settings - I never changed them. I did manage to spin it a bit by planting the throttle out of the corner (T1 and T6), but now I know.
Also according to the calculators, it should be about 1 hour per fuel run which will be nice for planning stints.

Fixed - confused it with a Forza Endurance post.

Yep, I’m getting about 32 laps in on a full tank. I’m not using baseline anything anymore other than TC and throttle map. I lowered the ABS settings dramatically, stiffened the front, have different valving, camber, and tire pressures at each corner due to the prevalence of long fast lefts, and removed all downforce. Running 1:45s consistently without pushing on a full tank with no drafting. It’s slightly prone to step out under braking on lefts for the first lap or two until the tires all get up to temp, but neutral after that.

I haven’t even touched setups yet. I would be willing to try what you have. I think during my shakedown laps I was in the 1:48s on base.
As long as the set is suitable for all of us to run without wadding it up too often, I am down for it.

It’s alot more stable than baseline. Baseline would be great on a short twisty track, but Daytona is not that.
